Verity’s story

Bloom was created from a place of passion, shaped by personal experience of the trauma mental health struggles can bring to a family.

As an “expert by experience” mum, Verity moved from her role as a qualified teacher into mental health and wellbeing support. She has worked as a family support worker for two charities and provided 1-1 mental health support in a primary school in the West End of Newcastle.

Bloom now directly supports families in the Tyne Valley, offering flexible early intervention support for the family as a whole through personalised plans.

“This is a marathon not a sprint.”

That message remains close to the heart of Bloom’s work: walking alongside families with guidance, advice and compassionate support.

Child-led

Support is paced around the child or young person, helping them feel safe, valued and understood.

Family-centred

Parents and caregivers are supported to better understand and respond to emotional wellbeing needs.

Creative

Art-based and creative approaches can help children express and process emotions when words are hard.

A calm nurturing space

Thoughtfully chosen colours and sensory support.

The Bloom room uses green for peacefulness, growth, balance and stability; soft pink for gentleness, calmness and nurturing; and cream for warmth and comfort.
